One of the major advantages of choosing Drupal over other open source content management systems is that Drupal provides a precise control over URL structure. Each item of content in a Drupal site is known as a node. Each of these nodes can be given a custom URL. When compared with other CMSs it has its own advantages, for example WordPress is limited to one type permalink URL that can be assigned to all posts.
Drupal has the Pathauto module that can also automate the custom URL structures for every type of content. The Global Redirect module also has a special role to play. It can automatically redirect the internal URL of Drupal to the custom URL alias. As a result Drupal allows having the most neat and clean content pages that any other content management systems have to offer and this feature gives you an edge over other CMSs when it comes to search engine optimization.
